(proposal)
The post-baccalaureate program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a unique program designed for musicians and educators who wish to learn more about their music practice in contemporary, relevant ways. A strong focus on current music technology and new musical literacies combined with a customizable curriculum provides opportunities to explore multimodal music education, project-based learning, musical entrepreneurship, new media technology, multimedia design, and production of both music and video.
Admission to the program is by application and audition. Applicants must possess a Bachelor degree in music or music education.
There are two possible tracks for the PBPNML: 21st Century Music Education and New Musical Literacies and Entrepreneurship. In conjunction with a Faculty Advisor, students will design their own program of study tailored to their specific areas of interest and intended areas of growth and development.
Admission Requirements
Advanced Standing and Transfer Credit
Courses permitted for advanced standing or transfer credit must be senior-level university coursework, and must be conceptually consistent with the Post-Baccalaureate Diploma specialization. Transfer courses require approval from the Specialization Program Coordinator and the Dean of Arts.
Program Structure
To respond to professional schedules, Post-Baccalaureate Diploma courses are offered as evening sessions (during winter terms) and also as regularly scheduled summer session courses. The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma is awarded after the completion of 30 credits. Students may complete the courses as available in sequence, or take the required number of courses within a six-year maximum period.
Note: Some courses may require pre-requisites.
